Dumb And Dumber
Dir. Peter Farrelly (1994)
Dumb and Dumber was the film that made Jim Carrey one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars. He’s brilliant as the man-who-never-grew up Lloyd Christmas alongside an equally impressive Jeff Daniels as his similarly idiotic best friend.
Farrelly Brothers humour may have worn thin towards the end of the decade but the duo were still enjoying their heyday in 1994 and with Carrey they make arguably their best film.

Housesitter
Dir. Frank Oz (1992)
Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn team-up for Frank Oz’s Housesitter, a amusing romantic-comedy that sees Hawn’s waitress Gwen, after having a one-night stand with Martin’s architect Newton, move into his empty new home posing as his wife.
Completely unbeknown to Newton, who had earmarked the house for him and a former girlfriend, Gwen quickly ingratiates herself with the local townsfolk including his parents. Initially furious to find Gwen has moved in, Newton soon discovers he can use the ruse to win back his ex-girlfriend.
Housesitter is a mistaken identity comedy that boasts some hilarious moments and, more importantly, genuine chemistry between its stars. Martin and Hawn would later star together again in the unsuccessful remake of The Out of Towners.
