New Star Wars Film Coming But Is It For The Big Screen Or Disney+

A new Star Wars film has been confirmed but at the moment it’s not evident whether it’ll be distributed on the big screen or produced for Disney+.

With Disney+ enjoying a good few months on both its streaming platform (thanks to the Jon Favreau-developed Mandalorian) and on the big screen (with the multi-billion dollar Skywalker trilogy), it’s little surprise to hear a new Star Wars spin-off movie is in the works.

But will it be for the big screen or the little one?

After the relatively poor box office of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney has been somewhat reluctant to confirm more Star Wars spin-off feature films. Indeed, the success of Mandalorian has made the studio think twice about where it targets its investment.

But Deadline has confirmed a new movie is in the works with Sleight filmmaker J.D. Dillard and Luke Cage and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. screenwriter Matt Owens.

Reports suggest the film would take place on the hidden Sith planet of Exegol, which was introduced in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While Star Wars fans wait and see what this project ultimately unveils, the second series of Mandalorian begins in October, while the spin-off series featuring Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor and Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan also begin soon.
