By Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris will star in upcoming crime-drama The Unknown Man which is based on a real-life Australian sting operation.

Deadline is reporting that Golden Globe nominee Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris, who was recently terrific in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, are to star in The Unknown Man, a crime-drama about a real-life sting operation carried out in Australia.
The film follows two men who form an unlikely friendship having met on a plane. Harris is Henry Teague – a lifelong criminal who is growing increasingly tired of evading the law. Edgerton is Mark, a seemingly amenable ally, who is secretly plotting to uncover the truth to convict Henry of an unsolved murder committed years earlier.

Edgerton has praised the script by Thomas M Wright (who made Acute Misfortune), saying he’s thrilled by his approach to “bringing the story to life.”
Wright will direct, making The Unknown Man his sophomore effort, with Edgerton joining the film’s producing team.
“As an actor, I know I will have an incredible experience working with [Wright], and as a producer I am honoured to be partnering with a filmmaker with such a brilliant future.”
See-Saw Films’ producers issued a statement saying: “Already lauded as a director with a distinctive voice, Thomas has written a unique and exceptional script to highlight the incredible story behind how a shocking crime was ultimately solved.
“Joel has been an ardent supporter since the start and alongside Sean will no doubt bring a level of integrity and gravitas to the fascinating story and relationship between two very different men.”
