We said it would happen and now it’s confirmed. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman.
The star of the hugely popular Twilight series of movies alongside Kirsten Stewart will pick up the Batmobile keys from departing caped crusader Ben Affleck in director Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Reeves took the director’s hot seat from Affleck who left the project in 2017. The filmmaker, who is responsible for the last two Planet of the Apes sequels, is expected to start pre-production on the new film this summer. The film will be released in June 2021 and form part of the DC Extended Universe.
Pattinson takes the role ahead of some other notable actors who were considered for billionaire crime fighter Bruce Wayne such as X-Men star Nicolas Hoult.
But Pattinson already has a good relationship with Warner Bros, a studio he’s currently contracted to for Christopher Nolan’s latest event movie which will be released next year.
