Arnold Schwarzenegger recently found himself in hot water at a German airport after alleged failing to declare a luxury watch he was intending to sell at a charity auction.
The star of The Terminator movies was held in Munich for around three hours. While EU rules stipulate that those travelling with “cash or certain valuable items” over €10,000 (£8,580) must declare it, a spokesperson for the Hollywood star and former Governor of California played down the incident as a “comedy full of errors”.
This was underlined by a photograph of Schwarzenegger posing for a picture with a box containing the watch and a note reading: “For Austria”. Following a short investigation, the star paid the required tax.

According to local news reports, the actor had picked up the item from luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet, which makes timepieces worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
On leaving the airport, Schwarzenegger was to attend a fundraising dinner for The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative in Kitzbuhel, Austria. It is due to take place at the five-star Stanglwirt hotel.
According to German news outlet Bild, the watch is “one of only 20 in existence” and includes “an image of Arnold in his iconic pose with the words ‘Arnold Classic'”. For those bidding, the starting price is €50,000.
