Adrien Brody’s new revenge thriller Clean will arrive on Digital platforms this July. The film, which was also co-written by Brody with Paul Solet, has been described as a “hard-edged, old-fashioned” vigilante movie “set in a painfully present America”.
Clean (Brody) is a garbage man troubled by a violent past and the loss of his daughter. Haunted by personal tragedy he is determined to find redemption by helping those around him.
He dedicates his life to his broken community, and the safety of young girl who reminds him of his daughter. When her life is put in danger, it reignites the darkness and brutality he has worked so hard to leave behind.
“All he is consumed with is trying to make amends with his past,” Brody told Collider of his character. “And to be good. And to build up the people around him.”
The film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021, was released theatrically in North America in January 2022. Andrew Mack of Screen Anarchy said Brody with his co-writer Solet make “a compact vision of the Man With a Past type thriller” giving the tropes “more emotional heft than most of its predecessors combined”.
As well as featuring another compelling performance from Brody, Clean also boasts stand-out turns from Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Glenn Fleshler, and Mykelti Williamson.
The film gets its UK premiere on digital platforms from July 4 courtesy of 101 Films.
