Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton return once again to James Cameron’s sci-fi franchise as an untitled in-production sequel to T2: Judgment Day releases the first promotional image from the shoot.
James Cameron, who will regain the rights to the Terminator franchise, is ready to release a new sequel to the two films he wrote and directed in 1984 and 1991. Currently referred to as Terminator 6, the film will arrive in November 2019 as a result of the fallout of Terminator: Genisys’s commercial failings.
The new film, which intends to continue the story from the end of T2: Judgment Day, is based on James Cameron’s concept with Tim Miller (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Thor: The Dark World) in the director’s chair. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton (who both appeared in Cameron’s original films) have been announced as part of the cast which includes Diego Boneta, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna and Mackenzie Davis.
In the official photo released by 20th Century Fox, we see Natalia Reyes as Dani Ramos, Mackenzie Davis as Grace and Linda Hamilton returning as Sarah Connor. To what extent Hamilton’s original Connor will be part of the plot remains to be seen, just as how we’re unsure how Schwarzenegger will fit into events. But what we do know is that Cameron intends for the film to ignore the other sequels in much the same way the currently on-hold Alien 5 would have done.
Other things we know about Terminator 6 include the producers seeking to cast an 18 to 20-year-old female as the film’s main protagonist and that filming began in Spain this year with additional shoots in Budapest, the UK and Mexico as well as the U.S.
The officially untitled Terminator project is scheduled for released in November 2019.
