Sarah Silverman Joins Bradley Cooper For “Maestro”

Sarah Silverman has joined Bradley Cooper for his latest film as director – Maestro – about genius composer Leonard Bernstein. The comedian and star of films such as Masters of Sex and I Smile Back, joins Carey Mulligan who is playing Felicia, Bernstein’s wife. Sources say Silverman will play Bernstein’s sister.

The film will see both a more familiar-looking Cooper as the younger Bernstein and an older version of the man in this biopic from the actor who also co-writes and directs. Variety said Maestro will be released next year. It’ll be Cooper’s first film as director since his Oscar-winning A Star is Born with Lady Gaga.

Maestro will tell the story of Bernstein’s complex love affair with Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein, a story that spans over three decades, beginning when they first met at a party in 1946.

Silverman, who also provided the voice to Vanellope von Schweetz in the Wreck-It Ralph films, has enjoyed success on the stage in recent years with The Bedwetter, a musical based on her 2010 memoir, playing at the Atlantic Theater Company. She also hosts a very popular podcast, The Sarah Silverman Podcast.
