Paul Giamatti celebrated his Golden Globes win with a trip to In-N-Out Burger. The star of The Holdovers, who was presented with the best actor award for a motion picture (musical or comedy) by Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell, is reported to have enjoyed a burger and fries before the star-studded after-parties.
The 56-year-old went to an In-N-Out burger in Westwood, California, where he casually dined. Onlookers could see the Golden Globe sat on his table as he ate. The awards was Giamatti’s third Globe following six nominations in total.
In The Holdovers, directed by Alexander Payne who the actor previously collaborated with in the brilliant Sideways in 2004, was written by David Hemingson and sees a curmudgeonly teacher, played by Giamatti, forming unlikely bonds with a young troublemaker and the school’s grieving head cook, over the holidays.
“Surely this is the first time this award has been given to an actor who has played a man who smells like fish,” Giamatti joked while accepting the Golden Globe. “Thank you, Golden Globes. Thank you to Alexander Payne, Alexander the great, [who] for some mysterious reason continues to have enormous faith in me and why? I don’t know why.”
Giamatti also praised the crew, his girlfriend and his son. “It’s a movie about a teacher,” the actor concluded. “I play a teacher, my whole family, they’re teachers, all of them going back generations. Teachers are good people, gotta respect them. They do a good thing. It’s a tough job, so this is for teachers as well.”

Page Six reported that Paul Giamatti enjoyed a meal post-Golden Globes with his girlfriend, Clara Wong, manager, publicist and agent. “They went for a celebratory meal… he’s a big In-N-Out fan, and was a great way to celebrate before the parties,” a source told to Page Six.
“People clapped when he came in… it was near UCLA, so there were a lot of college kids,’ the source added. Apparently, the crowd, “respectfully waited till he was done eating, and then asked him for pictures.”

Sideways fans will note the sight of Giamatti sitting in a tuxedo eating a burger is reminiscent of a scene in the 2004 film in which his character Miles wears a suit and drinks an expensive 1961 Cheval blanc at a fast-food restaurant.
