Bill Murray has been accused of “inappropriate behaviour” on the set of Aziz Ansari’s Being Mortal causing the production to be temporarily shutdown.
The New York Times reported that Searchlight Pictures notified cast and crew that filming on Ansari’s directorial debut was to be suspended because of a complaint. However, it did not reveal any further details.
The studio has not reported any details about the allegations or who was in involved but a crew member, speaking on the condition of anonymity described “inappropriate behaviour” by Murray as the reason for the production’s shutdown.
It isn’t the first time Murray has been accused of causing issues on set. While filming Charlie’s Angels Murray clashed with the actress Lucy Liu, who told The Los Angeles Times that he had started to “hurl insults” at her, adding that “some of the language was inexcusable and unacceptable.”
Murray, an Academy Award® Nominee for his starring role in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, was most recently seen in Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed The French Dispatch as well as Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Coppola’s On the Rocks.
He is the lead in Being Mortal which is based on “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End,” a nonfiction book by Atul Gawand. Also starring Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer, the film will bring to the screen Gawand’s accounts of his experiences as a doctor and exploration of how doctors and patients deal with terminal illness.
