Bong Joon-ho’s “Snowpiercer” Comes To UK Blu-ray & DVD For The First Time

Lionsgate will release Bong Joon-ho’s Snowpiercer for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD in May.

The Korean director’s stock is high in 2020 following his triumph at the Oscars with Parasite. Now his star-studded dystopian sci-fi thriller based on Jacques Lob’s graphic novel Le Transperceneige will be available to own on UK Blu-ray and DVD.

The ensemble cast including Tilda Swinton, Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Ko Asung, Ed Harris and John Hurt are aboard the eponymous Snowpiercer, a huge train travelling on a globe-spanning track after a climate engineering attempt causes the death of the much of the world’s population.

For seventeen years the train has been hurtling around the earth’s now-frozen surface. Amongst its carriages, the passengers have formed a divisive economic and social system.

This all changes when a lower class citizen – Chris Evans’ Curtis – leads a group out of the squalor of the train’s rear carriages towards the front where much of the wealth and food can be found.

Boasting ambitious action with biting social commentary, Snowpiercer is quirky, audacious and original.
