Amazon has released the first images of its new original paranormal horror-comedy series starring Shaun of the Dead duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The project has been set up by its stars’ Sony-backed production company Stolen Picture and sees the celebrated double act of films Hot Fuzz and Paul and TV sitcom Spaced tackle a number of supernatural tales as Dave and Gus.
Also featuring Samson Kayo, Malcolm McDowell, Emma D’Arcy and Susan Wokoma, the series will depict spooky yet funny supernatural tales as a bunch of ghost hunters try to find tangible evidence of the after-life. It’s all then presented on their online channel hosted by Gus and Dave.
Set in a mysterious world filled with dread and just-out-of-sight monsters, Truth Seekers mixes the very funny with the very scary in an exciting take on genre storytelling. With each find the paranormal aspects grow more terrifying and deadly. This comes to a head when the pair discover a conspiracy that could threaten to destroy humanity as we know it.
Truth Seekers is being produced by Richard Webb and will comprise eight instalments each lasting approximately half an hour. Last year, Frost said it was a terrific experience working with Amazon Studios on the project. “It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance.
“Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”
We still await Amazon revealing a release date.
