Things are beginning to take shape in a post-Endgame Marvel world as Natalie Portman has been announced as the new god of thunder in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Returning director Taika Waititi will take charge.

The news, which included the official release date of November 5, 2021, came at Comic Con in San Diego which has already produced a number of exciting revelations in the past few days.

Portman, standing next to Waititi on stage, wielded Hasbro’s version of Thor’s hammer as co-star Chris Hemsworth watched on.

Although she was absent from Thor’s recent instalment – Thor: Ragnarok – she appeared as Jane Foster in Thor and Thor 2.

The Oscar winner joked: “I’ve always had hammer envy” as the fans watched on. The revelation won’t come as a huge surprise for fans of the comics who saw Foster become the Goddess of Thunder in a 2014 storyline.
