“It: Chapter Two” Looks Scarier Than The Excellent “Chapter One”

It isn’t long before cinemagoers will be clinging on for dear life as we head back to the sleepy town of Derry to do battle with the monstrous clown Pennywise in Andy Muschietti’s It: Chapter Two. Now, as the latest trailer arrives, it looks like we could be in for an even scarier ride.

Andy Muschietti’s sequel to 2017’s It: Chapter One, a horror film based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King, has revealed its final terrifying trailer ahead of arriving in UK cinemas on September 6.

Looking like it’s going to be as frightening as the first film, Muschietti has assembled a wonderful cast to bring King’s startling tale to life and build upon the excellent Chapter One in which we met the characters as children.

Anticipation for It: Chapter Two has been hotting up for a while thanks to the release of “first look” images of James McAvoy portraying the grown-up Bill Denbrough (who was previously seen in It: Chapter One during childhood with Jaeden Lieberher in the role).

Muschietti directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman (who wrote Annabelle: Creation as well as Chapter One) with Javier Botet, Jessica Chastain and Bill Skarsgård joining McAvoy in the cast.

The sequel picks up the story of Pennywise the Clown 27 years after the events of the first film. The children of Chapter 1 are now adults and, having sworn an oath to return to defeat the monster who once tormented them, are brought back together after the murders begin again.

A sequel was inevitable, in part because the original concentrated on only half the book, leaving itself open to a concluding part, and because It: Chapter One went on to become the highest grossing horror movie of all time (raking in over $700 million at the worldwide box office). Its opening weekend saw it earn a record-breaking $123.1 million, while its ticket sales made it only second behind Deadpool for the highest opening of an R-rated movie.
