Bradley Welsh, the close friend of Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh (no relation) who appeared in Trainspotting 2, has been shot dead in Edinburgh.
Bradley Welsh, who appeared in Trainspotting 2, has been found dead in Edinburgh. He was discovered by police on Wednesday with gun shot wounds. He died at the scene.
Best known in film for appearing in Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting 2 as well as his appearance in TV show, Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men, Welsh is believed to have shot just a few feet from his basement flat door in the city.
The former casual footballer and boxing pro ran the Holyrood Gym in Edinburgh. Having turned his life around after troubles with violence including a prison sentence for assault, Welsh had begun helping others through programmes run at his gym and via charity events including supporting the city’s foodbanks.
Trainspotting writer, Irvine Welsh, tweeted that his “heart is broken”. He added, “Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend. Thanks for making me a better person and helping me to see the world in a kinder and wiser way.”
Police Scotland described his death as “suspicious” with inquiries continuing.
