Under Fire, the Oscar-nominated political thriller starring Gene Hackman and Nick Nolte, will be released on limited edition Blu-ray on June 17.
Eureka Entertainment will release Oscar-nominated political thriller Under Fire on limited edition Blu-ray on June 17.
The exhilarating film, which stars Nick Nolte, Gene Hackman and Joanna Cassidy, sees three journalists caught up in the 1979 Nicaraguan revolution.
Under Fire, which Time Out critic Geoff Andrew said on its release was a thriller with “a head, a heart, and muscle”, will arrive on Blu-ray in the UK with a revealing audio commentary featuring director Roger Spottiswoode, assistant editor Paul Seydor and photo-journalist Matthew Naythons, and film historian Nick Redman.
Nolte is Russel Price, a gutsy journalist who, armed with his camera, gets caught between his love for reporter Claire Stryder (Cassidy) and his friendship with her husband, Alex Grazier (Hackman). Stuck in a war zone between Sandinista rebels and the Nicaraguan government, Price forgets objectivity, becoming too involved in the skirmish for his own good.
Boasting acclaimed cinematography from John Alcott (known for his glorious work with Stanley Kubrick on 2001: A Space Odyssey and Barry Lyndon) and one of Jerry Goldsmith’s greatest scores, the film also announced director Spottiswoode’s talents to audiences after mixed results with his first two movies.
Eureka Entertainment’s Blu-ray will be limited to 2,000 copies and will feature an exclusive collector’s booklet. The 1080p presentation will include uncompressed LPCM 2.0 audio, optional English SDH subtitles and added extras such as a 3-minute conversation with Joanna Cassidy remembering the film.
Under Fire will be released on limited edition Blu-ray on June 17, 2019.
