Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Kicking things off is one of the funniest movies of all time. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” is a cult classic that, to this day, stands the test of time.
It’s still as funny and ridiculous now as it was when it first came out in 1975, and viewers are sure to love it whether they’re watching it for the first time or the 10th.
You can catch “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” on Netflix.
It’s hard to come up with an apt description. Part exploitation flick, part Nicolas Cage action movie, “Mandy” is one of the strangest, most surreal films you’ll ever see.
The film comes courtesy of Panos Cosmatos, the visionary behind the equally bizarre “Beyond the Black Rainbow,” so fans of the psychedelic filmmaker should expect a similar film.
Also, it’s impossible to talk about “Mandy” without mentioning how perfect Nicolas Cage is in the starring role. Say what you will about his acting, nobody can sell a creepy smile like Nic Cage.
You can see what the hype is about for yourself by checking out “Mandy” on Shudder.
Sticking with the bizarre, the next film on our list, “Annihilation,” was one of the best British films of last year.
The film stars Natalie Portman as she and a team of explorers head into the mysterious Shimmer, an area that seems to change the few people who manage to find their way out.
It’s an excellent sci-fi/horror hybrid that should make fans of both genres quite happy.
And the way that “Annihilation” explores themes such as transhumanism, psychological boundaries, and grief is sure to leave audiences thinking after the credits roll. Be prepared to feel a bit confused after you watch it tonight on Hulu.
As strange as it may sound, “Lady Bird” and “Annihilation” actually have a great deal in common. No, obviously “Lady Bird” isn’t a horror movie, nor does it deal with science fiction themes.
But it does have some interesting things to say about grief and human relationships.
Though “Lady Bird” was billed as a comedy, it’s far more dramatic than silly. Still, it’s a poignant, touching film that didn’t get its due at the Academy Awards a few years ago.
“Lady Bird” is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Few sequels manage to surpass their predecessor, but The Merc With a Mouth’s second outing bucks the trend. It’s funny, foul, and contains one of the most memorable post-credit sequences of any superhero film to date.
As of now, the only way to stream Deadpool 2 is by either renting it through an online platform like the Google Play store or Amazon or watch it via HBO.
You should be able to find it via the HBO Now app or through your any of the Best IPTV services.
