For aficionados of evolved cinema, there is perhaps only one way to truly enjoy Avengers: Endgame and that is in an IMAX theatre where 26% more picture can be seen as a result of it being filmed entirely with IMAX cameras.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame arrives in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019 having been filmed entirely with IMAX cameras. That means, 26% more image can be seen when projected using IMAX cinema technology. It also means that if you watch the film in a non-IMAX theatre, you’re missing out.
“It made sense to us that the grandest cinematic event in Marvel history should be executed in full IMAX,” said co-director Joe Russo.
Joe, with his fellow director and brother Anthony, shot Avengers: Endgame with IMAX cameras to fully realise the immersive impact of the super-sized screen.
“The level of ambition in these films is pretty high and we needed equipment that could help us fulfil that ambition,” remarked Anthony.
As Avengers: Endgame features IMAX expanded aspect ratio, only in an IMAX theatre will the crystal-clear images be seen in all their glory. Boasting up to 26% more picture than what audiences see in standard cinemas, IMAX is beginning to become a favourite of action film directors who want to give audiences a new level of exhilarating big screen entertainment.
The camera, an Alexa Imax 65mm, when combined with IMAX’s digital re-mastering process, delivers the highest level of digital image capture and playback resulting in stunning lifelike images. It has previouslty been used to film the airport battle sequence in Captain America: Civil War and the entirety of Avengers: Infinity War.
