As Night of the Living Dead – Live nears its first show at Pleasance, London on April 9, the cast have been revealed for the first ever UK stage adaptation and the only officially authorised production based on George A. Romero’s cult zombie classic.
Night of the Living Dead – Live hits the London stage on April 9 and runs until May 19, 2019. As the first performance nears, the full cast has been revealed alongside some wonderful promotional photography that brilliantly captures the gritty, black and white photography of George A. Romero’s classic horror film.
The black and white theme of the production will also be seen onstage when audiences get to witness the monochrome sets that celebrate the cult legacy of the pioneering zombie movie. The excitement continues as those brave enough to watch the play get to choose between “splatter” and “supposedly safe” seating zones.
The production, directed by Benji Sperring will come to life at Pleasance, London from 9 April, and feature a cast that includes Ashley Samuels (who plays Ben), Jennifer Harding (Helen/Judy) who was named Hello Magazine’s Rising Star of 2018 and received multi-award nominations for her role in The Clockmaker’s Daughter, and Marc Pickering (Harry) best known for playing the young Sheriff Enoch Thompson in Sky Atlantic’s Boardwalk Empire.
They will be joined onstage by Mari McGinlay (Barbra), Mike Bodie (Chief McClelland), and Tama Phethean (Tom) in the first ever UK stage adaptation and the only officially authorised production based on Romero’s film.
First premiered in 2013 in Toronto, the Romero Estate-approved stage play brings to life iconic scenes set amongst a monochrome backdrop through a mixture of the horrific and the funny where humour plays as big a role as the scares.
