Disney has unveiled its teaser poster for the upcoming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the Joachim Ronning-directed sequel to the global smash hit from 2014.
Disney has dropped the teaser poster for its Joachim Ronning-directed sequel to the global smash hit from 2014, which centres around the villain from Disney’s classic Sleeping Beauty.
The poster comes as Disney announces it will bring the film forward by seven months from its original release date. That means it’ll go up against an untitled film from Blumhouse and the second weekends of Zombieland 2, The Adams Family, and Gemini Man, a futuristic thriller that brings together the acting talent of Will Smith and directing prowess of Ang Lee.
The Maleficent sequel adds to a number of tentpole releases from Disney that will almost certainly make it the biggest earner of the year. It grossed $7.3 billion last year with Warner Bros. and Universal behind it at $5.5 billion and $4.9 billion, respectively.
Alongside Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Disney is prepping Captain Marvel, Dumbo, Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Artemis Fowl, and Frozen 2, before finishing the year with Star Wars: Episode IX. 2019 is going to be a BIG year for the studio – again!
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is in UK cinemas from October 18, 2019.
