With anticipation for Avengers: Endgame hotting up, fans are beginning to wonder what might happen. Here’s a few theories… spoilers (potentially) ahead…
Avengers: Endgame’s trailer, which was released on the 10th anniversary of the Avengers movies, started a series of fan theories that try to guess what roles Iron Man, Captain America, and Ant-Man will be playing. Due in April 2019, the film hasn’t shown much yet and directors Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo are still being quiet about it.
At the end of Avengers: Infinity War Thanos manages to complete his mission and he takes with him many of the beloved heroes of the film, leaving the remaining heroes to deal with the loss of their closest friends. Although it is not sure which characters will be returning, from the cast list it is obvious that the main players will be there.
Aside from the great legacy the Iron Man films have left audiences with, one of the big questions is what will happen to Captain America (a character that, along with Iron Man in his third outing produced one of the best MCU films in the shape of Civil War) since Chris Evans, the actor who plays him, announced it might be time to move to other projects. He is definitely part of the cast of Avengers 4, but what about after that?
An addition to this Avengers is Brie Larson as superhero Captain Marvel, who possesses superhuman strength, invulnerability and the power of flight. As well as having her own film – Captain Marvel – she will also be part of the latest Avengers.
Another character surprise could be Katherine Langford (which you probably know from 13 Reasons Why on Netflix), but it is not clear yet what her role would be. Some fan theories suggest she might play Cassie Lang, the daughter of Ant-Man, some think she might become a Hawkeye replacement, and some even believe she could play a villain!
Pepper Potts, Tony Stark’s wife played by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, was also the subject to a few fan theories after a photo from the set of the Avengers was leaked. In the photo she was wearing a suit similar to Iron Man’s robotic ones. Does that mean she will play a much bigger role this time?
All fan theories aside, there are a bit over two months left until the release of Avengers: Endgame at the end of April when all the questions will finally be answered. Until then, let’s keep our eyes peeled for some more plot titbits!
