It’s time to start thinking about Anna and Elsa again – as if any parent with a child under 10 has had respite from the adventurous princesses since Frozen’s arrival in 2013.
Get ready for more adventures with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and a bunch of new characters as Frozen 2 unveils its official trailer. The sequel from directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee is scheduled to be released on November 22 in 2D and 3D.
It has been six years since the mega-hit Frozen (and everyone singing or humming “Let It Go”) wowed audiences young and old but now the much anticipated sequel is nearing its release date. The trailer – released by Disney – shows Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) trying to turn an ocean into ice but plunging into its dark and stormy mass.
Familiar faces are intact – Elsa’s sister Anna, Olaf the snowman and Anna’s love interest Kristoff – as Frozen 2 hopes to enjoy a similar level of commercial success as its predecessor (the original grossed $876m worldwide and went on to be a huge merchandising hit as well as boasting the infectious song “Let It Go” which sold over 3 million copies within 12 months of the film’s release).
Loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ice Queen, Frozen would go on to win two Oscars. Few details have been given about the sequel’s story but Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown are thought to be featuring in undisclosed roles
Frozen 2 is in UK cinemas on November 22.
