Zombieland: Double Tap enjoyed its own version of the ten-year challenge by revealing the poster for the horror-comedy sequel that, coincidentally, arrives ten years later.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, who took the helm of the original film, Zombieland: Double Tap will arrive in UK cinemas on October 11. It sees Columbus, Tallahasse, Wichita, and Little Rock (played by the cast of the original film – Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin) move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the makeshift family.
Writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese – the Deadpool writers who wrote Zombieland – are penning the sequel so there’s plenty of reason to be excited. The director, whose recent Venom disappointed audiences, is coy on plot details but does say: “They have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family” in an interview with Deadline.
Fleischer has said he hopes – even expects – the sequel to live up to the qualities of the original film. “I think collectively we all felt very strongly that the only circumstance we’d be willing to make the movie is if it’s as good or better than the original. And none of us [cast, producers and writers] were willing to compromise on the quality of the movie.”
Zombieland: Double Tap has recruited Set It Up star Zoey Deutch as a new, mystery character, and Rosario Dawson is also set to appear.
