George A. Romero’s “Dawn Of The Dead” & “Martin” To Get Deluxe New Home Video Releases

George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Martin will get deluxe new home video releases after Second Sight Films acquired the rights to issue the films on Blu-ray and video-on-demand. Second Sight has recently unveiled collector’s editions of When A Stranger Calls/When A Stranger Calls Back, The Changeling and Xtro.

Second Sight Films, which recently released a brilliant Blu-ray edition of When A Stranger Calls is set to release George A. Romero’s genre classics, Dawn of the Dead and Martin having acquired the home video rights to distribute them in the UK.

Expected to hits shelves and VOD platforms later this year, the legendary films will get the full special edition treatment with bonus material and stunning packaging making these new home video versions very collectable.

“We are very excited to have acquired Blu-ray and VOD rights to these George A Romero masterpieces for the UK and thank Richard P Rubinstein [who facilitated the deal] for the opportunity to represent such iconic and revered films,” said Chris Holden, Managing Director of Second Sight Films. “We are looking forward to producing the kind of special editions their cult status deserves.”

Both films will be complemented by a host of brand-new special features with details of bonus materials being unveiled soon.

Dawn of the Dead, one of the greatest horror films of all time, arrived a decade after the seminal Night of the Living Dead. It ushered in a new era of zombie films, showing the director ahead of the curve mixing political satire with inventive gore for a genre defining masterpiece that still packs as much of a punch today.

Doing for vampire what he did for zombies, Martin saw the director put a modern spin on ancient myths. This disturbing and darkly humorous film was considered a favourite of Romero’s.

Continuing to distribute high quality ult classics in premium editions, Second Sight Films further underlines its reputation as an expert in the field.
