The Coolest Casino Resorts Featured In The Movies

We have, more than likely, all seen the glitz and the glam of one opulent, glamorous casino resort or another being used cleverly as a setting for a movie or two (or ten!) but have you ever stopped to question which casino was being used in each of these films and why?

Was it the work of a clever cinematographer who wanted to gift the watcher with a thing of beauty?

Was it used as a way to show how the other half live, or, as a useful tool to carry on the plot and add a sense of urgency or danger?

With the potential to show all of the above things and so many more within the confines of a film it’s not really hard to see why, but which casinos have captured the keen eye of filmmakers across the globe?

Here are a few of our top pics of gorgeous, atmospheric casinos which have been featured in a movie, or indeed in several of them.

Our No1: The Bellagio Casino

Designed by the legend that is Steve Wynn, at the rather imposing cost of $88 million, the Bellagio is now one of the world’s most visited and best loved casino resorts.

Having been featured in big blockbuster movies such as “The Hangover”, “Ocean’s Eleven”, “Ocean’s Twelve”, “Lucky You” and 2016’s “Jason Bourn” to name but a few, the Bellagio has many beautiful, rich and sumptuous features, the most impressive of which has to be the epic Bellagio fountain.

This incredible fountain has not only featured prominently in many movies, and is of particular significance in “Ocean’s Eleven”, but has even featured in massively well know music videos like Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time”, as well as one from rap artist Drake and even Bruno Mars’ number “24K Magic”.

In gambling terms, bets can go right up to $8,000 in some of the designated areas and pots in their high-end poker rooms normally reach over and above $1 million. The Bellagio also regularly hosts big, exuberant World Poker Tour events.

With a whopping 2,000 slot machines housed at the Bellagio, some paying out as much as $2 million, you can always be sure to find what you’re looking for in amongst all the splendour and wonderment of the Bellagio casino too. Our No2: Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace has perhaps been the location of more movies than any other casino. Appearing in “Rocky III”, “Rain Man”, “Hearts Are Wild”, “Fools Rush In”, “The Strip”, “Dreamgirls”, “Iron Man”, “Step Up: All In” and so, so many more besides those it really has captured the imaginations of many film makers since it was established by Jay Sarno in 1966.

Jay wanted to fashion a lavish facility which could really give guests a feel for what life was like during the Roman Empire, at least what life as a wealthy roman would have been like and in this he succeeded!

It has also been used in various TV Series including “The Supronos”, “Friends” and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”.

Our No3: The Casino de Monte-Carlo, Monaco

The glamorous Monte Carlo has become the place to be for great numbers of the uber-rich, and this is where you will find our third pick.

The Casino de Monte-Carlo has also been featured in a long list of movies, in particular the James Bond films “Golden Eye” and “Never Say Never Again”.

It’s not hard to see why it was chosen, as the casino not only has luxury in every place but also has several champagne coolers worth of charm and a whole briefcase full of class to sprinkle lovingly into the mix along with all the truffles.

Above we just wanted to highlight a few of the most used casinos but there are, of course, many, many more amazing casinos which have been used in movies.

Some honourable mentions are The MGM Grand Casino: Which just happens to have been built around a Hollywood’s Golden Age of Glamour theme.

There is also The Floating Dragon Casino which was featured in 2012’s Bond movie “Skyfall” which, already stunning, has its own dragons and hundreds of floating lanterns which added to the mix in terms of extra atmosphere in the film.

There are still many more that would be well worthy of a mention here but for now let us just say – that it’s well worth taking an extra look when you see a beautifully clad casino in a movie!

After all, who knows when you might next like to visit one for yourself!
