From the BAFTA-nominated producer of God’s Own Country comes Await Further Instructions, a dark and twisted Christmas Day-set festive sci-fi thriller that has arrived in UK cinemas and On Demand from today.
One to add to the alternative Christmas film list, Await Further Instructions gives British kitchen sink drama a science-fiction twist, a dose of satire, and a helping of body horror.
Starring Sam Gittins, Neerja Naik, Grant Masters, Abigail Cruttenden, Kris Saddler, Holly Weston and David Bradley, Johnny Kevorkian’s film has nods to Cronenberg and Carpenter when the dysfunctional Milgram family find their house surrounded by a mysterious substance on Christmas Day.
Something monumental is clearly happening right outside their door, but what exactly – an industrial accident, a terrorist attack, a nuclear war? All their limited information now comes from the television. But as the ominous gogglebox exerts an ever more sinister grip on their psyches, their terrified paranoia escalates into bloody carnage.
Described by critic and horror cinema scholar, Kim Newman, as “rare and cutting”, sentiments echoed by The New York Times which said Await Further Instructions “will leave you wobbly for days”, the film boasts the backing of God’s Own Country producer Jack Tarling.
Await Further Instructions is OUT NOW in UK cinemas and On Demand.
