The hunt has evolved in Shane Black’s sequel to Predator which arrives in the UK on Digital Download on January 11 before debuting on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on January 28.
Shane Black’s The Predator comes to home video via Digital Download (January 11) and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD (January 28). A great after-Christmas present for fans of the franchise. There’s even a special edition Predator 4-Movie Collection, which includes Predator, Predator 2, Predators and The Predator on Blu-ray and DVD. A limited edition 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Steelbook is also available exclusively at Zavvi.
Described as “stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before”, the predator is back in the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director’s new film having genetically upgraded itself with DNA from other species. When an unassuming young boy accidentally triggers a call for the predators to return to earth, it’s up to a ragtag group of ex-soldiers and a science teacher to save the human race from annihilation.
The Predator movies have gone from the sublime (John McTiernan’s 1987 original) to the ridiculous (AvP 2). That said, it’s only the awful Alien Versus Predator 2 that’s really worth avoiding. A film which is missing from the special edition 4-disc Predator box set (unsurprisingly).
The first sequel, Predator 2 is great fun, featuring a brilliant action sequence on an underground train amongst the camp of Gary Busey and energy of Bill Paxton, while Predators, Robert Rodriguez’s re-tooling of the franchise, was a fine, stripped-back version that recalled the original but subverted its all-American hero motif by making the protagonists the bad guys.
The Predator is on Digital Download from January 11 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD from January 28.
