Kurt Russell is coming to Netflix this festive season as Santa Claus! The Christmas Chronicles, a Netflix original film, will start streaming in the UK on November 22.
Get ready for some early festive cheer as The Christmas Chronicles starts streaming on Netflix from November 22. But wait. It gets better. Not only will the film hopefully complement our thirst for the holidays and the spreading of good will and the anticipation of presents galore, this year, our Christmas movie fix comes in the shape of the brilliant Kurt Russell.
From The Angry Birds Movie director Clay Kaytis (and produced by Home Alone’s director Chris Columbus) comes a Christmas movie that Netflix will hope becomes a yuletide favourite amongst audiences. With Russell as Santa Claus, there’s every chance it will. Indeed, the action-packed trailer featuring some of Russell’s trademark quips (think Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China or Dean Proffitt in Overboard) suggests this is going to be one fun ride.
Hopeful of joining the list of Christmas classics, The Christmas Chronicles sees a brother (Judah Lewis) and sister (Darby Camp) inadvertently put the holidays at risk when, in trying to meet Santa, they cause him to crash his sleigh. Now the kids, Father Christmas and his elves must band together to save Christmas.
If The Christmas Chronicles ticks the right holiday season movie boxes – to make audiences feel good, have a few laughs, and end on a happy note, then it’ll be a hit. But this film has a trump card: Kurt Russell. Russell on autopilot would be fun; Kurt on fire is a potential festive film classic.
The Christmas Chronicles is on Netflix from 22 November.
