Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series The Witcher has announced those actors joining Henry Cavill (who will play Geralt of Rivia) including Freya Allan, Jodhi May and Adam Levy. The remaining cast will be announced soon.
The Witcher, based on the best-selling fantasy series, is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Freya Allan, Jodhi May, Anya Chalotra, MyAnna Buring, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Adam Levy join the previously announced Henry Cavill in Netflix’s upcoming fantasy drama, The Witcher.
The pivotal role of Ciri, Princess of Cintra, will be played by Allan (known for The War of the Worlds, Into The Badlands) while Queen Calanthe will be played by Game of Thrones’ Jodhi May. Her Calanthe’s husband, the knight Eist will be played by Fortitude’s Björn Hlynur Haraldsson who will be joined by Adam Levy as druid Mousesack.
The sorceress Yennefer will be played by Chalotra while Kill List actress MyAnna Buring will lead the magical academy at Aretuza as Tissaia. Yennefer is joined by other novice sorcerers Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), Sabrina (Therica Wilson-Read) while Millie Brady is the outcast Princess Renfri.
“Casting The Witcher has been one of the biggest projects of my career, and undoubtedly the most exciting,” said showrunner and Executive Producer, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (whose credits include Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s The Defenders, Umbrella Academy). “I can’t wait for these wonderful actors to bring such iconic and loved characters to life on screen, and to share these special stories with viewers all over the world.”
The Witcher will consist of 8 episodes.
