Alice Lowe’s “Prevenge” Lands On DVD, Blu-ray & VOD June 5

Critically acclaimed and now eagerly anticipated in its home video release, Alice Lowe’s Prevenge arrives on UK DVD, Blu-ray and VOD June 5.

Top 10 Films has been looking forward to seeing Alice Lowe’s Prevenge in what seems like months. We missed it in cinemas unfortunately. We were over the moon to hear, therefore, that Lowe’s directorial debut will land on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD June 5. The talented writer, actor and now director co-created the brilliant, subversive horror-comedy Sightseers released in 2012 but has made us wait for her next original film work.

A pitch black, wryly British comedy, Prevenge follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree that’s as funny as it is vicious. It’s her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth’s actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims. Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood. Prevenge marks the directorial debut from Lowe, who is a true triple threat, writing, directing, and acting in the film during her own real-life pregnancy.

Available to download on May 28, Prevenge’s DVD and Blu-ray release will benefit from some great bonus features such as an audio commentary with Alice Lowe, cinematographer Ryan Eddleston, editor Matteo Bini and producer Vaughan Sivell).
