Milla Jovovich Stars In Innovative Immersive Drive-Through Theatre Experience “The Night That Flows”

When it comes to cinema, we’ve heard of “drive ins”. When it comes to fast food, we’ve heard, and probably frequented, the drive-through. Mix the two with the drama of theatre and you have The Night That Flows, the world’s first drive through theatre experience.

It was a mild midwinter night in London when actress Milla Jovovich joined a talented group of performers, creative artists and technical wizards to offer 100 guests the chance to enjoy the world’s first drive through theatre experience.

The evening was actually a marketing tool used by Toyota to showcase its new C-HR which Jovovich was presumably contractually obliged to say is “a beautiful looking car and incredibly stylish inside”.

Called “The Night That Flows”, the seven-scene multi-sensory, live interactive theatre experience staged within the gigantic space of The Printworks took each member of the audience on a journey through five iconic European cities.

The drama was inspired by the car’s sleek design, guests flowing from one city to another. Jovovich narrated the experience which began in a recreation of Berlin where guests were transported through the city’s streets in the C-HR using projected footage captured at the Berlin International Festival of Light.

For her part, Jovovich said she was thrilled to be part of an interactive theatre experience, something she had admired from afar. “I love that immersive theatre takes everyone on a completely unique journey and that no one experience is the same,” she said. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, so when Toyota approached me with the idea, I was intrigued and knew I had to be a part of it.”

As the drama was built around the car, guests moved from Berlin to Milan where a catwalk experience made the C-HR centre stage before, once entering Paris, rally driver Guerlain Chicherit took guests on an exhilarating drive around a giant projected roulette table.

Ending in London, guests got a taste of mixologist duo Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale‘s innovative cocktails as Jovovich herself entered the stage to conclude the action.

The event was created by a team comprised of some of the world’s finest theatrical and technical design talent, all brought together under The Department’s Creative Directors Jonny Grant and Hamish Jenkinson, with Jessica Rees Middleton as Executive Producer.
