    I must say I’m surprised Rocky didn’t make the list, even though my emotional attachment to it isn’t that strong.

    Come to think of it, there’s probably a few sports movies that could be listed here.

    And what about My Left Foot?

    I’d have voted for Tarkovsky’s Andrei Roublev – the final chapter (and the film’s brief epilogue) remains one of the strongest reaffirmations of the human spirit in cinema.
