Shia LaBeouf’s latest stunt sees him fielding calls from people willing to “touch his soul”. The star of Transformers will be available to take your calls until Sunday Dec 13.
Having turned up at the Berlin Film Festival in 2014 with a bag displaying the words “I am not famous anymore”, the Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull actor has arrived in North West England to launch his latest “performance” project.
Along with collaborators Nastja Sade Ronkko and Luke Turner, LeBeouf is taking calls from people in the hope someone will “touch his soul” as part of Follow, an exhibition which opens at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT) in Liverpool on Friday.
The continuation of LeBeouf’s work away from cinema, Follow aims to ask how we look at the world around us now that fame appears to be just a “like” or “follow” away. The Hollywood star will be taking calls in Fact’s gallery between 11am and 6pm and can be reached on +44 (0) 151 808 0771 until Sunday Dec 13.
Whether you consider it a stunt, art or an early mid-life crisis, LaBeouf’s latest head-turner comes after he set up a live stream inviting his fans to watch him watching his movies, and an invitation for fans to join him at a gallery in America where he encouraged them to say or do what they wanted to him.
You can visit FACT to see LaBeouf working the phones or check out the live stream at Touchmysoul.net
