Principal photography began in October on Mum’s List starring Rafe Spall & Emilia Fox, a romantic drama based on the best-selling book by St John Greene…
Principle photography is currently taking place in Clevedon, North Somerset, as writer-director Niall Johnson adapts St John Greene’s profound autobiographical true story about a couple whose lives are turned upside down when Kate is diagnosed with incurable breast cancer. Over her last few days, she created a list featuring thoughts and memories to help the man she loved create the best life possible for their two sons, after she was gone.
Following production in North Somerset, the shoot will continue in Bristol and the Devon coast. Producer Nick Hamson said, “We’re all incredibly proud to be involved and associated with this very special film, in honour of Kate, Singe and their families, who have all been tremendously supportive in bringing this touching and heartfelt story to the screen.”
The story has proven to be a hit all over the world with the book reaching the top 25 in both Germany and the USA, and entering the Amazon charts at number 1. More than 20 rights deals have now sold in 14 territories including Korea, Portugal, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Poland, Slovakia, Holland and Czech Republic.
Director Niall Johnson, who lives with his family in the same town as the Greenes, said: “Kate and Singe’s story is one I witnessed at close quarters. It touched the community in a way that only such a tragedy can; and, through Singe’s book, it has touched people worldwide. It cuts to the quick of what it means to live and love, no matter who or where you are. To have the opportunity to adapt Kate’s story, and then to be working with such committed and invested artists as Emilia and Rafe in bringing it to the screen, is an immense privilege. It goes beyond a passion piece to something even more personal.”
