Raindance Independent Series Awards Winners

Raindance Web Fest, the UK’s only dedicated web series festival has announced the winners of the annual Raindance Independent Series Awards (RISA) – an awards ceremony dedicated to recognising upcoming talent within the web series industry.

Raindance 2015 - Top 10 Films

The ceremony, which was hosted by Raindance Web Fest Founder Elisar Cabrera and previous Web Fest winner, Phillip Whiteman, took place at Vue Piccadilly on September 27. RISA categories included Best British Series, Best International Series, Best Leading Actor and two new awards, Best Writing and Best Directing, as well as special awards, Critic’s Choice Award and Special Festival Award.

The winner of Raindance Web Fest’s Web Series Pilot Competition, in association with DailyMotion, was also announced on the night.

Web Fest aims to recognise the opportunities that the creation of the internet offers to the next generation of filmmakers. Winner of the new Special Festival Award, Artistically Challenged, is a scripted comedy in 14 second episodes, which were released on the leading social media platform, Instagram, a perfect example of uncovering new ways of releasing short film.

Elisar Cabrera, Raindance Web Fest Founder comments: “2015 brought another exciting line up at Web Fest, with five world premieres and a host of industry events as well as this year’s first StreaMART event, which connects industry with up and coming new talent.
