Jurassic World, the long-awaited next installment of Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking Jurassic Park series from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, will receive the widest-ever global day-and-date IMAX release, beginning 10 June in several international markets including China.
Totaling more than 800 IMAX® theatres worldwide, the film’s debut weekend comprises nearly 445 overseas IMAX locations, added to 364 IMAX playdates domestically on June 12. Jurassic World beats the previous day-and-date record-holder for IMAX – The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – by more than 100 additional screens.
“Summer box office has been riding high since Universal Pictures’ Furious 7 launched in April, and now we look forward to that momentum continuing with Jurassic World poised to take the world by storm in record-setting fashion in IMAX theatres,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment. “The film, directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Frank Marshall, is an epic addition to Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking Jurassic Park series and is a must-see, jaw-dropping experience in IMAX.”
