Princes Charles Cinema to Host Robin Williams Season for Charity Mind

Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square will host a short season of films starring Robin Williams to celebrate his life and raise both funds and awareness for mental health charity Mind.

Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square aims to raise much needed awareness as well as funds for mental health charity Mind with a season dedicated to the late, great actor Robin Williams. Between November 6th and December 11th, the cinema will screen six of Williams’ most-loved films including The Fisher King, Hook and Mrs Doubtfire. At each screening a bucket collection will donate funds directly to Mind, a charity set up to offer advice and support to those suffering from mental health problems.

The cinema held the screenings following a huge number of requests from their audience who also helped choose the two films that were shown on Saturday 6 September.

The new season, which will run every Thursday throughout November and into December has been named Robin Williams: What a concept!. Kathleen Miles, Director of Fundraising at Mind says: “We have all been genuinely touched by the generosity of Prince Charles Cinema, and their wonderful audience, who have dug deep to support Mind as they celebrate the remarkable career of Robin Williams.

“Depression is a very real illness, which can affect anybody regardless of their age, gender, ethnic group, profession or social status and money raised during the Prince Charles Cinema Robin Williams season will help Mind to be there for anyone experiencing a mental health problem.”

Paul Vickery, Head Programmer at Prince Charles Cinema, says: “Our first event was amazingly supported, with hundreds of people choosing their favourite Robin Williams films and more than 250 buying tickets for the screenings and supporting the vital work of Mind.

“We’re looking forward to our upcoming season and hope that our audience will once again get behind our season, Robin Williams: What a concept!, and help Mind in their work to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone.”
