Here’s the psychedelic poster of acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film Inherent Vice which follows P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) as he investigates the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in late 1960s Los Angeles. The seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel will get its American release in December.

Phoenix plays private eye Doc Sportello who finds his ex-old lady appear out of nowhere with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a looney bin. The impressive cast includes Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio del Toro, Jena Malone and Martin Short.

    Great poster! Starlet (2012) also revealed legs(and no face) on the poster-although the Inherent Vice artwork is the more memorable of the two.

    Also reminds me of the opening scene in Lost in Translation, although that was in a hotel room.
