Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane makes his feature film debut with Ted, about a foul-mouthed teddy bear and his best friend Mark Wahlberg. But girlfriend Mila Kunis gets in the way…
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane makes his feature film debut with this live-action comedy about a loser and his best friend. However, the best friend happens to be a childhood teddy bear who can talk and has the personality of a beer-guzzling layabout.
MacFarlane called on the help of Family Guy colleagues Alex Sulkin and Wellesley Wild to write Ted while Tippett Studio and Iloura provided the visual effects.
The story follows John Bennett who, when a child, wished his teddy bear would come to life. Unfortunately, the teddy bear did come to life and now, with John in his thirties, his childhood toy is still clinging on. When John, played by Mark Wahlberg, begins dating Lori (Mila Kunis), it throws a spanner in the works of Ted and John’s relationship. Perhaps it’s time for the bear to go…
McFarlane told Collider.com he originally thought of Ted as an animated television series. “This was an idea that had actually been floating around in my head for a while. I had originally conceived it as an animated series idea and, for a number of reasons, shelved it. And then, when it came time to do my first movie, it seemed like a story that would make a much better film than a series.”
