Michael J. Fox, star of 1980s classics Back To The Future and The Secret of My Success, as well as 1990s TV series Spin City, is set to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Cameras in Germany.
The 49-year-old actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, has been a strong campaigner and advocate of Parkinson’s sufferers, publicly expressing his support for stem cell research in 2006.

Sep 24th 2010 – It is just 7 days until we can all go Back To The Future once again. Well, if you live in the UK that is. Fans in the States will have to make do with the Blu-ray released at the end of October.
For some of us, who never got the chance to see the original film in theatres back in 1985, it will be the first time we’ve been able to enjoy Doc Brown and Marty McFly’s adventures across time on the big screen. Now, thanks to Universal pushing the marketing boat out for the new high-definition print of the film and its Blu-ray debut, UK audiences get the chance to see the film on the big screen.

Those kids of the TV generation, bred on the old sci-fi serials that inspired Lucas to write Star Wars, really came to the fore in the 1980s thanks to the successes seen by Lucas and Spielberg in the late 1970s. The two Godfather’s of the blockbuster continued to be at the forefront of family-orientated science-fiction with “Empire Strikes Back” and “E.T.”, while those inspired by their method like Zemeckis, Dante, and Robbins took us on more adventurous journeys into the fantastical. For the fantasy and science-fiction genres, there are few periods in film history better than the 1980s. Children, with their love of adventure and fairytale, had never had it so good.
