Anticipation for Harry Potter 7 hots up

Anticipation for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is hotting up, at least for Top10Films it is. New featurettes have been released by Warner Bros featuring recently edited footage and cast interviews.

After the delayed release of the Half-Blood Prince fans have had to wait even longer for the conclusion to this long-running fantasy saga. With J.K. Rowling’s book The Deathly Hallows to be told over two movies, we’re all going to have to wait that bit longer to find out what happens to Harry and his friends at the end.

Steven Spielberg Week

The 20th June this year marked the 35th anniversary of Jaws. The film, considered the first blockbuster, was financially groundbreaking, saved a Hollywood studio, made Steven Spielberg a household name, and changed the face of American film forever. Top10Films: News (August 2010)

The Greatest Comedy Tournament is entering its final stages over at AnomalousMaterial.com, if you have yet voted, head on over there for a look. Meanwhile, while you’re here – if you haven’t cast your vote in the Godfather 1 versus Godfather 2 debate you can do so right here! We’ve been busy posting many top 10 lists over the last few weeks, the most popular (and controversial) of which is Rodney Twelftree’s Top 10 Sequels of all time. We followed that up with the less controversial Part 3s that are better than Part 2s top 10. Rodney has also written an excellent top 10 list looking at the best Australian comedy films.

Cost-cutting sees the end of UK Film Council

British film took a direct hit from Conservative cost-cutting as it was announced the UK Film Council will be abolished by April next year. The UKFC offered key financial support to new and veteran filmmakers throughout pre-production to production, promotion, and distribution. It remains to be seen what affect this will have on the British Film Institute which relied heavily on UKFC funding.

Three premieres as BBC Films finds new home

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th marks BBC Films weekend as the filmmaking arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation launches its new television home on BBC Two. The channel will show the network premieres of three of the BBC’s most critically acclaimed films of the last few years – “Is Anybody There”, “The Damned United”, and “Eastern Promises”.

The weekend is a showcase of the BBC’s finest feature film work in its new home on BBC Two. The move to showcase BBC films on the channel is part of the network’s recent Strategy Review which, amongst other things, pledged £25m to the production of quality drama.
