Great interview, Dan. I’ve been a fan of DA since I saw Pi as a callow student and watching his progress has been amazing – I’d say he’s in my top 3 list of working directors now. Excellent comparison with The Wrestler – the two films are clearly all about the same thing, and the comment on high art v low art was great. Also great to hear his views on Mansell’s score, which I love – obviously ignored for Oscars because it’s not completely original but, like Johnny Greenwood’s work for There Will Be Blood, it’s better than anything else nommed this year (with the possible exception of Reznor’s The Social Network score).

Great work – and great blog, too.

Awesome interview Dan! My wife and I can’t wait to see this one, we both like Natalie Portman (and I have a great deal of time for Aronofsky, as well as anything Clint Mansell touches) so it won’t be too long and I’ll have a review up myself!

Nice interview Dan! It’s funny, I just read Ross McG’s interview of Aronofsky before coming to your site and there was another one ah! Very interesting that he felt the ballet world was unfriendly and didn’t care about his movie.
