After all the talk about “Godfather part II” here, our second Reader’s Choice debate had to ask the question – which film is better: Godfather 1 or the much-loved sequel?
After tallying up the votes cast in the comments section here, on Twitter through our Twitter page here, and on Facebook, the results are as follows:
In 2nd Place is The Godfather Part II with 39%
In 1st Place is The Godfather with 61%

Wow, I am surprised by this. These are my 2 favorite films of all-time, no question. So either is deserving. But as a Godfather enthusiast, I would give the slight edge to the 2nd one for all of its depth and weaving back from 1907 through the late 40′s when Michael is in Las Vegas. So much to soak in here. The first is phenomenal, no doubt. But I always give the edge to the sequel…
