i love the old school film fright night and i really like the lost boys film. but they have just remade the fright night and have put david tennant into it. also there making a series of fright night and there are now three lost boys movies. i think there just trying to trash old school hard core vampire with over rated crap….

So I was thinking a Cronos and Let the right one in double-feature would be fantastic. I own both, but haven’t watched them yet. Having heard of the remake of Fright Night recently, I really wanted to see the original. I’ll have to track it down.

Nice list. There are a lot on here that i actually haven’t seen, but i will try to check them out now.

I would personally recommend seeing “Thirst.” its a asian vampire film, made by the same person who did Oldboy.

@pauldriver: Cheers for the comment Paul. This list would have included Let The Right One In had it existed when it was originally written in 2008. I do take exception to the suggestion that Interview With A Vampire should be on this list – such an overlong, dull film has no place in any top 10. While some of the film is set in the present day, it isn’t a ‘modern’ vampire film, rather it is a vampire film in the classic mould and therefore wouldn’t be suitable to this list. I haven’t seen many vampire films as lifeless as the vampire himself than when watching the insipid meandering of Neil Jordan’s Interview With A Vampire. I have to say I liked the ending though, not least because I could finally move on to something far more inspiring.

A top ten modern vampire movie list is little more than a joke if it doesn’t include let the right one in. The inclusion of interview with the vampire would also have given this list a little more credibility.

Yes! Excellent! I was going to be very angry if Near Dark wasn’t on this list, and there it is at the top spot where it belongs.

I’ll even forgive you including 30 Days of Night.
