Blogathon: Nostra’s Iconic Movie Products

12 February 2012 10 Comments

Movie products. From Back To The Future’s Hoverboard to Total Recall’s mind travel, films have shown us many fantastic things to expand the human experience. Which ones would you like to try?

my filmviews blogathon, film, top 10 films,

After the fun I and others had with Houdini’s Magic Ticket it was great to hear that Nostra of MyFilmViews.com had come up with an idea for a brand new blogathon.

Films have imagined many and varied products that could make the human experience that bit easier. Conversely, others could destroy us, or drive us crazy!

Nostra’s idea was to take those products and do with them what we wanted. But what products would you choose? Find out more about the blogathon here and join in.

If you had a Back to the Future DeLorean, which cinema related time period would you travel?

The seventies. The American new wave. Lining up to see Jaws for the very first time!

If you woke up tomorrow morning and found out that you were living your own Groundhog Day and could only escape it by watching all the movies from a specific genre, which genre would you choose and why? And which genre would be your personal hell?

It would have to be the Male Adventure in Self Discovery Movie. My personal hell would be vacuous, stereotypical, demeaning romance movies.

You have the Neuralyzer from Men in Black in your pocket. Which movie would you travel into to use it on one of the characters to change the movie in a fun or interesting way and what would happen because of the change you made?

Whoever is in charge of letting the Titanic sail without enough lifeboats. I’d make him forget his obnoxious profiteering pretentiousness in the hope he’d pander to the needs of his conscience and the ship never sets sail. Hence, we don’t ever have to sit through the film ever again (and 1500 lives are saved too!).

If you would be able to enter the dreams of a famous movie character like Cobb did in Inception using the dream machine, which character’s dreams would you jump into to get to know that character better and what do you think their dreamworld would look like?

I can imagine Norman Bates’ dreams would be a pretty messed up place. It would make an interesting horror film though.

Lacuna Inc, the company from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind just opened on the corner of your street. Which one movie memory would you delete to experience it for the first time again?

Aliens. I’ve seen this film more than any other. I’d love to experience it again for the first time.

Right next to Lacuna Inc, another company Rekall from Total Recall has opened as well. Which character in which movie would you like to be to experience it in first person?

Mikey. The Goonies. Great friends. Great adventure.

Nice choices, would be amazing to see Jaws at the time. Also nice choice to change Titanic! I”ve only seen Alien once, but agree with that choice, watching it for the first time it was such a thrill.

Both Aliens and Aliens 2 are terrific,Ridley Scott made some really awesome sci-fi films.

    I love that you love as I love…Aliens !!

Great movie, almost as good as its predecessor. I have the DVD Quadrilogy in my possession even though I was a bit disappointed by the last, more recent iteration.

It would definitely be fun to travel in time and experience those classic films when they first came out. I’m really not much of a fan of Jaws for the simple fact that it created this image of sharks that demonized them, at least to those too ignorant to read about them, resulting on a spike of shark hunting. The film, leaving aside what it caused when it comes to shark preservation, is still awesome to watch though, Spielberg at his entertaining best!

I’d love to un-see Raiders of the Lost Ark. I’ve watched that movie to death haha. Would love to see it in the theater though.

Good ones, Dan! I’m late to this blogathon but decided to do one anyway later this week. I probably have a similar answer like you but 3 decades earlier… oh to see some of my favorite classics on the big screen!

It would be amazing to see Jaws on the big screen. I’m not sure what would be more fun: watching it from a 2012 perspective and seeing everyone’s reactions or watching it from a 1970s perspective and getting terrified of this animatronic shark!

I’m not surprised that you’d like to see Aliens again for the very first time. Good call :D

Great choices! I like your thoughts on Titanic and the idea of not having to sit through 3 hours to watch the ship sink that took 15 or so minutes in real life.

    ha.
