WHAT IS TOP10FILMS.CO.UK

Top10Films.co.uk was founded by film critic Daniel Stephens. Off the back of his very successful film and culture journal Strange Conversation (which to date has had over 300,000 hits since 2006), he decided to entertain one of his great passions – favourite movie lists.

However, the site would never have been established were it not for the success of a particular top 10 List, which first appeared on Strange Conversation and has been reprinted HERE on Top10Films.co.uk. The list in question – Top Horror Movies of the 1980s – proved to be a major draw for Strange Conversation, bringing in hundreds of readers every week and generating lots of discussion amongst film fans. The list quickly became the number one listed in Google search results, inspiring the creation of a dedicated site for top film lists.

WHAT MAKES TOP10FILMS.CO.UK DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE REST

Film lists are commonplace. No matter where you are on the internet you’ll find movie polls and lists telling you what the greatest movies are. Top10Films.co.uk, however, has no “Greatest Movie Ever Made” list. The lists here are across diverse categories and created to help you find films that you may never have discovered. The lists are here to create comment and debate, to inspire people to seek out films they haven’t seen before or never thought they would be interested in.

We feel we are unique in that the popularity of the films we feature, and their place amongst the greatest works of cinema, can easily be identified in our FILMS section where you’ll find every film we’ve talked about and listed with the corresponding list or lists they feature on. Many of the very best films make it on to several of our lists making it easy for you to discover the best films and their individual appeal.

We also don’t just have lists. Many of our Top 10’s are accompanied by reviews, features, essays, and links to videos online. We also where possible direct you to the best deals from online retailers so you can buy the films you want on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Film Online Magazines and Blogs
Natsukashi – For a bit of nostalgia, a few laughs, and a love of cinema past and present look no further. Natsukashi debuted in the Spring of 2008 on the premise to revisit films we loved as kids to see if they hold up as adults. Featuring well-written critiques, the website’s shining glory is its podcasts and the industry veterans they interview. From directors to actors to special-effects staff to bit-part players, each retrospective is graced by the presence of someone associated with the movie. Highly recommended.

RossvRoss.com – The movie battleground. Writer’s Ross McG and Ross McD (who modestly claim to know zip about movies) take it in turns to belittle each others opinion on various cinematic matters in a fight to see who knows best. Funny, smartly written, frequently updated.

M. Carter @ the Movies – insightful, thoughtfully written film comment and criticism with plenty of friendly debate.

Cut The Crap Film Reviews – regularly updated film reviews for new and old films.

The 8th Circuit – comprehensive and entertaining news, views and opinion on movies, video games, music, books, comics, and lots more. Also features a friendly online community.
